5" Prodigy Comp production question

Howdy, noticed the 5" Prodigy Comp has come down in price a bit, order in.

So, I've noticed some video alleged problems in the past per cerakote flaking etc., and guys doing a "manual break-in" of 2-3K cycles to remove cera flakes. Has that been cleared up?

My history; certified factory LEO armorer for Glock and SIG 2XX series pistols, shooting/hunting since 1980, Reagan's U.S. Army.

1911/2011s experience; student of Hilton since buying 1st service 1911 with a SIG TO in 201X. I usually just start with buying a 10-8 slide-stop for mods, go from there if there's cycling problems.

Little disappointed to see just (2) mags included, have to dig out some old STI/SVI units.

What's up fellas? How's your 5" Prodigy Comps runing? Will there be an issue mounting a Mepro? TIA...

Welcome to the forum from South Texas. If I were still a competitive shooter I might take a hard look at the Prodigy. There have been many discussions in this forum, pros & cons, on this pistol. Have several pistols that are not in my EDC rotation but not because they are not reliable. Imagine SA is trying to correct problems that may or may not be valid.

I have a 5" model, got it roughly a year after release. I've had no issues with it. If anything the cerakote is thick on the rails and takes some time to break in/wear. It gets smoother the more I shoot it. Not had any function issues and absolutely love it. I run it in training as my sidearm and it's not failed me yet.
I was going to say the same thing about the cerakote. I actually cycled mine what felt like a million times and wherever I could see wear occurring to the coating I took a stone to it to smooth it out.

Have around 800ish rounds through my 5" comp. Various weights, fmj and jhp, not one malfunction of any kind. I had an issue with AOS plate coming loose occasionally but Vibratite seems to have cured that. Serial number is NMH81###. It should serve you well. Welcome to the forum from NE FLORIDA.
