My son and I have a VZ.24 Mauser, the Czech copy of the M-98.

I want an M1 Garand, yes just like 98% of the firearm enthusiast community.

I've gone to CMP website a couple of times and became so confused at the process to get my name on the list, I just gave up.

If anyone would do a community service of explaining the process, it would be appreciated. My understanding is that, once you get your name on the list, you might have to wait 2 years, but eventually you'll get a decent shape M1 at a cheap price. Right now the only other way to get one is to find a used/restored on for $3,000, at least $2,500.

Don't have 'em all, but I'm close.

Don't have an SAA, but I have Ruger Single-Six.

Don't have an Enfield Mk III, but I have a No. 4.

Don't have a CZ75, but I have an amazing CO2 replica of it--and a real Smith 5906.

Rick,

While I did not buy my Garand from CMP, I know a little about the process. First, you MUST be an NRA member. Second, you MUST be a member of a shooting club recognized by CMP. They have a list on their website. Those 2 requisites pre-empted me from buying from them. After those 2 requirements are met, I have no idea what the process is....I think it's outlined on their website.

Just to elaborate if anyone cares, I am waiting for Wayne Lapier (sp?) to retire before considering joining the NRA. Second, no CMP-recognized clubs are convenient for me to join and utilize. Thus, I can't buy from CMP. I would love to be a customer, but not for that price. They have plenty of demand, and they don't need to ease their requirements for new customers. It's a semi-free country, they can do what they wish.

Oh, almost forgot to tell Talyn good upload!
