Handloads for Semi-Auto Rifles vs. Bolt-Guns

I reload for 14 calibers or more at last check. I personally tailor many loads for specific firearms, although you do have to be careful and make sure you mark them appropriately. I use different color load boxes, such as red for HOT Ruger only loads, blue for moderate loads and green for light loads. Doing this, I know when I grab my Blackhawk, I can grab any box and have no issues, but if I grab my milspec 1911, I only grab the blue or green. Different bullets also play a part depending on use, but most semi's will never function well with a full house bolt load, unless you customize the spring at a minimum.

Nice article that touches on several points of interest... That said, took it up about 3 years ago with the thought how hard can it be. I mean I know a couple of armors that did it and they weren't the sharpest crayons in the box! Boy, was I wrong and even with a degree in aeronautics this handloading stuff is friggin rocket science. Eight primers, 160 powders, different cases based on production, neck tensions with hundreds of bullets and the interaction of all the above with pressure and temperature ensuring within trim and chamfered and deburred, etc... Yeah, but it is sweet hitting a golf ball size bullseye at 200 meters.
