7MM PRC

Funny how cartridges keep getting cut down and/or reshaped and call it new and improved? Most (if in magnum faced) starts with a long case to get the in-between lengths of other cases. I guess Goldilocks will find her bed!

I'm hoping Hornady will legitimize the 25 Creedmoor. Nothing against the classics, I own a few but I also like new. The 7mm PRC appears to be an awesome cartridge and I want one but just don't know what I'd need one for.

I'm not a 7 fan, but have recently acquired ( August ?) an AR7-08 and have an AR7saum coming soon (waiting on shipping, but is finished). Not entirely sure I need either of those also!

Why would I want one? Accuracy, long distance accuracy to be more precise. Don't get me wrong, but my 300 Win Mag has very good accuracy but not great.

I have a 6.5 PRC and it does everything I want or need. I'm in TX so no large game. The 6.5 PRC should have significantly less recoil than the 7. The 6.5 ammo is less expensive. But the 7PRC is impressive.

With more 26, 28 and 30cal cartridges too choose from over the 27cal the decisions can be many? The 6.5rem mag is a tad faster than the famed 6.5prc and both being slower than the long action by 50-100fps. 7mils are the same way with 22-26" barrels. From saum, wsm and prc there isn't much difference, only choices. Like when the 6.5creed came out I bought into it because of it being in my favorite caliber and in an AR. Later I was able to find an AR barrel in 260rem...........well it was a better choice over the creed. The person that got me into reloading was a 7rem mag FAN! Burns more powder than the saum, can take advantage of the heaviest bullets (not by much) without seating them long and do so in a shorter barrel. Good thing there's choices, the only thing is finding ammo and/or brass for it? Lately that is what making my decisions. 300wsm brass is available and will be my next AR, also because I can't get 300saum or 300rcm chambered in an AR + brass is almost non-existant.

What I'm not understanding is why in my local stores/shops 7mm PRC ammo is considerably more expensive that 300 PRC??? This is base on the same brand, Hornady ELD-M vs ELD-M and Precision Hunter vs Precision Hunter. I figured it would've cost somewhere between the 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC but it's the most expensive of the three (at least in my area).
