Anyone here have an 80% lower completed?

What's your experience with 80% lowers are they worth the short money they cost?

What learning experinces have you encountered milling one?

Do you have a preferred brand?

What kind of 80% have you milled glock or AR?

Are polymer AR lowers any good?

So it depends on the finishing kit you purchase and how many you plan to complete. Go slow and dont try to make your pocket cuts all in one go. Only plain old milspec type lowers Since they were the cheapest. In today’s environment things are hard to come By.

Is the polymer worth trying for the experience?

So I have used them, but they definitely are not as strong as the aluminum versions. If you are not planning on storming the beaches of Normandy with this AR. They are perfectly adequate just be careful not to overtighten things. I personally never had one break on me, but I am not doing full auto dumps with them.

If you don't have a pretty fair amount of metal work, especially machining type work, a poly 80%'er would be good practice. It's the same amount of work, but a lot easier to control the tools and to get you a feel for how the different tools respond. If you have a source and a reasonable cost for a/some poly ones, I'd suggest that being a good move. You could always use it sparingly if you wanted, or while you're doing a second/metal one. Then do a little better one at a later time.
