Own a Garand built in 1944, restored by Miltech Arms. When I take it to the range, I'm always asked about it. And the "ping" of the en bloc being ejected is terrific. Great gun!

I saw Garands with ARVN and ROK troops in Vietnam. I was surprised to see them still being carried by South Korean troops during my tour there in 2010, as well as some vintage 1911's. Both venerable weapons that stood the test of time.
Thank you for all the information and history about the M-1 and how long it has served. It was the one weapon I always wanted when I was younger, but could never afford the extra money. Well this year I was able to get my first one. It is so awesome to shoot. My goal is to get two more so that when I pass on each of my boys will have their own M-1. This year I hope to take it deer hunting with me.
