Who Was the Godfather of Milsurp?

Cool article, and never heard of the place before.

"...In 1950, the island’s ferry boat sank in a storm. Without a mode of transport to reach the island, Bannerman’s Island Arsenal was abandoned."

🤔 Apparently, he was really good at business, but lousy at planning for contingencies...such as when your one-boat navy sinks. 😨

Yeah! Wonder why they never bought themselves an LST or a Navy container ship to move all their stuff in & out??

Thanks for good interesting article Mike, had heard of the man, his castle and island of military surplus before to varying degrees from different sources. The magnitude and some of details, events like dates weren't mentioned in some of previous articles read. Why place supply on an island makes more sense now from your written perspective. Figured his supply was massive, but not quite that diverse, expansive or huge! If for nothing more than a glimpse of history, miss many of the interesting old surplus stores, have visited many over the years. Your article is one of the better detailed ones. (y)(y)
