I’m sure many of my fellow forum members are wondering where I’m going with this, what does a bullet have anything to do with a tennis ball??
I enjoy watching golf, I enjoy watching tennis even more and even if your not a big tennis fan I’m guessing you’ve heard or seen the news on the recent incident at the US OPEN currently in process in NewYork. Novak Djokovic the current #1 in the world was disqualified from the tournament, what for? Well in a fit of frustration and disgust over his own level of play he struck a tennis ball in a direction behind him that struck a line judge square in the throat,
“under her chin”
Bringing her immediately to the ground unable to breath. Within 10 minutes the referees and top officials for the USTA determined “based on the rules” that
N. Djokovic did not handle himself in a professional manner causing an injury to a member of the ground crew and was defaulted from the tournament.
It’s happened before, back in 2012 at the (end) of a match! The winner attempted to strike a tennis ball into the stands in celebration, the ball struck the court umpire while still seated in his chair in his right eye shattering his eye socket.
A tennis ball.
USTA contention is a player is responsible for the ball when it leaves the tennis racket “while NOT in play”
Where am I going with this your probably asking yourself???
Is this not the same principle we as gun owners have to remember? We are responsible for the bullet as soon as it leaves the muzzle of our gun.
Novak Djokovic forfeited his current winnings of $250,000 dollars and was fined $10,000 dollars on top of that.
He will still remain ranked at #1 for now.
We as gun owners have a much greater liability, if we are attacked and we defend ourselves and a bullet goes threw or past our attacker and strikes an innocent person it could be much worse.
The bottom line is we are ALL responsible for our actions all the time.
Be vigilante, stay safe, and be careful.
