A COVID-19 Story

I would like to tell you a story of how one of our team members is practicing social distancing.

One of the ladies who has been a part of our team for 22 years turned 60 on Monday, March 30. She is a new grandmother and has an extremely tight knit extended family in Northwest Arkansas. It is killing her to not be able to have their weekly family gatherings and hug that new grand baby. These past several days could have proven to be very depressing for her. Instead, it will probably be the birthday that she will cherish the most for the rest of her life.

She told me that just as she and her husband were just sitting down to dinner on Monday, there was the sound of horns blowing and commotion in their driveway. As she stepped out onto the porch, her family (who had driven over from four different neighboring towns) were all lined up in the driveway. With the babies in car windows, standing in the moon roof, or sitting on their parents shoulders, all started singing Happy Birthday. They had not been together as a family since February 22, when they celebrated that granddaughter's first birthday. She said "It was emotional for all of us and I'll never forget the thoughtfulness of each of them. Then, as soon as they arrived, they departed!"

Hopefully, everyone can practice this kind of restraint, and yet stay connected like this until this horrible situation is over.

Be careful & stay well,
