A First For Me

I haven’t been sleeping well because of of my left shoulder pain but last night I was woken up by something I’ve never experienced before, at 11:30pm I woke up to a siren, it wasn’t loud but a constant drone in the distance, then my phone went off with a tornado warning!
Still in bed I turned on the news to find out there was severe weather in the area then I got the shock, tornado warning for my area, I got up and got dressed and went out on my patio? No wind no rain? Then almost immediately the wind went crazy and the rain started. It only lasted for about 5 minutes but it was intense and rattled me.

Weather is a big time powerful force ! With our modern climate controls, we don’t much “feel” it coming anymore like the birds & furry critters still do. We’ve replaced it with our modern electronic warning systems - but it sounds like yours worked ! And at least you paid attention to it, Lol.

Glad you "weathered" the storm. Tornadoes are one wicked force of nature. Any damage or injuries locally?

They are rather like natures psychotic temper tantrum, they can pop up seemingly from no where, destroy everything in thier path and be gone in seconds.

Been through several, lucky never a direct hit. Did have one jump over our house once when I was a kid hiding in the gully. Actually looked right up into it. That day no warning, we were outside and dad looked up and saw it coming over the trees. He grabbed my baby sister and took off running towards the house and basement, yelling at me way across the yard to get in the gully. I was actually too young, and too shocked to be really very scared.

Glad you are OK. Hope they can do something about that shoulder.

It’s interesting you mentioned animals as my cat was acting very strange and although she is very clingy she wouldn’t leave my side last night during the worst of the wind almost as if she knew.

According to the news the National Weather Service will be doing assessments of the areas affected, I got up this morning and now that it’s light out the small grove of trees near my apartment building is wrecked from wind damage. Since I live on the second floor with windows on the south/west wall of my apartment I had no where to go except for the bathroom.

Glad all is ok with you goose, last summer we had a similar experience, tornado warning went off and there was an actual one that was just 4-5 miles north of where I live, scary situation. A friend who volunteers at our local EMA center sent me these pics.

Scary indeed my friend, they have reported a 97mph EF-1 in Hardin county but not near me luckily. There is some wind shear damage to trees in my relative area. I will say going through that had my heart rate up considerably.

Glad you're OK, @Keystone19250 .

My daughter was actually the one who really kicked-off our "go bags" a few years ago, after similar circumstances. I'm embarrassed to say that it wasn't me and that we hadn't done it sooner, but she really did put a light under me.

We also got our dog a small pack to carry a few of his things and worked over several weeks to acclimate him to its weight and size.

I really like it that our cell-phones now broadcasts these alerts, but I also have a solar-charging capable emergency weather radio stationed on the sill of one of our south-facing windows. It's invigorating to wake up to that one, too. :ROFLMAO: 😅

Well, another wild evening tonight, I live in eastern Ohio, was watching tv and bang, tornado sirens went off, went outside and saw a greenish sky which was rotating as it went over our complex, then this dropped down about a mile north of where I live, it was confirmed by NOAA, wild night.

Oh man I’m so glad you and family are ok, yes the weather lately has been bad.
Stay safe please.

Yikes!

Hope y'all are safe this morning!

We just had some rain here last night in NE-Ohio. Supposed to have been some hail, but that never manifest: just a tiny bit of light-and-sound show at one point.

My daughter's rowing team was actually able to get out onto the Cuyahoga. Their coaches read the RADAR and got them in right before the storm rolled in.
