A true member of the greatest generation.

I have watched this several times now and I always have the same reaction. Every time I see it , even though I know what is going to happen , I am on the edge of my seat . I don't have the words to describe the admiration I have for this man and what he was able to accomplish in his later years of life.

Those men were the definition of the word hero! Everyday the world loses another one or two. Soon all the hero's will be gone. In my family the hero's are all resting, may they rest in peace.
Growing up in the 50s I was surrounded by these heros. They were neighbors, storeowners, scout masters and even some high school teachers. It's a pity that I didn't realize it at the time that these men were giants, but like this gentleman, they were humble and didn't feel that they had done anything above and beyond what others had done. They answered the call of duty, endured the unimaginable, and returned to take their place in a society they had protected and fought for. I've come to realize that I am the person I am today because of those core values that guys like Ted Gundy imparted to me while growing up. They continue to inspire even today.
