When I was a kid I read a book on the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey and a lot of the visual effects were very simple in execution or things were done using practical effects. When you watch the film today it stands up against virtually any of today’s digital VFX. Same with Blade Runner.
 
When I saw the headline, I thought they were talking about my old Lotus Europa! Simultaneously the most satisfying and most dreadful car I ever owned. It was magical to drive when it was running...but keeping it running was best left to a full time squad of mechanics. Here it is under primer, as working on the mechanical side ran into extra innings and we had to make a Spring Break deadline my senior year of college. Good times...I was braver back then. Today I don't think I would take a Lotus from Missouri to Texas no matter how many bikini clad girls were going to be there!

Tried fitting my 6-6 frame in one…thought I would have to be buried in it! Bought a Volvo 1800 ES instead. Ex got it in the divorce, I got the VW Thing.

They are concentrating on it right now - the DEI division has been upstaffed and budget increased. The recommendation is for further study on this important matter. Meanwhile back on planet Earth, Elon's rocket may have to pinch hit here and go get them.
 
The "private" Boeing astronauts have never been abandoned since they're scheduled to return on a SpaceX craft in late Jan/early Feb 2025.

They've been assisting the existing ISS crew with scientific experiments and ISS operations.
 
Okay maybe abandoned isn't the best choice of words. They were already supposed to be home, now it's Jan/Feb 2025, any bets it takes longer? Sadly, over the last 20 years or so I have lost all faith in my Gov. Before that I now suspect I was willfully ignorant. Seems to me that we will abandon people we sent somewhere ant the drop of a hat yet go all out to secure hikers strolling through war zones, or WNBA "stars" that break the laws of a foreign nation.
 
There's not daily flights up to the ISS.

Cargo resupply flights are ~ every 3 months, and the crew shifts are ~ 6 months. The last regular shift went up before the Boeing folks did and they have to save the ships that the last crew came up on in order for that crew to come down on. That's the system.

They're taking two crew off the next SpaceX flight in order to accommodate the two Boeing folks when they brought the Starline (Boeing) capsule down on remote in case things went south with it, but it made it down OK. Better safe than sorry.

I don't understand why folks are wrapped around the axle about the two Boeing folks when they're up there all well and fine, working with the other crew members, getting three squares a-days, getting paid & enjoying the view.

Maybe folks should worry about the US citizens being held hostage by Hamas in some $@&% hell-hole tunnel underground for over a year? :unsure:
