"...allowed four boxes"

Yesterday afternoon, the grandson and I were out and about, and I decided to stop by the local retailer to see if they had any ammo in stock. We put our masks on and went in and walked back to the small area where firearms, ammo, and assorted accessories are. Looked at the same pitiful, lean selection of ammo available. Same old shotgun stuff, and there was a stack of some .223, but it was there the last time I stopped-by....over a week ago. Can't even recall the off-brand name of the stuff, and it apparently was not selling.

I told my grandson we were heading for home, and he said "he has some right there", pointing at the young employee working that area. I looked, and he had one case of ammo in his arms, the top of the box was open, and I could tell it was the American Eagle brand I like. I asked him if it was 5.56, 55 grain, and he confirmed it was. Not being greedy, I stated I'd like 5 boxes. It was the 20rnds per box stuff. He said store policy right now was only 4 boxes per customer. I said okay, but what if I bought that, left, then came right back in the store and bought some more? He paused, and then said, "well if you had a mask on, I (he) woudn't know it was me." I said "but I'm wearing a mask now." He didn't have an answer for that. I got my four boxes from him, paid at the counter, and left. Walking to the truck I told my grandson I should go back in and buy four more boxes, just to see if they'd recognize me behind the same mask I had on before, but not be wearing my ballcap. He said "lets do it", and I said no, we have the four boxes allowed each customer. That was my integrity lesson for the day for my 13 yr old grandson.

Oh, and the cost per box was less than $7 each....so I bought four.

Great lesson and great price. Ironic since I was online looking for bulk ammo and was going to post a question about an online seller called
(BulkAmmo.com)
Just wondering if anyone has done business with them.

I did order from Sig Sauer two cases,
200 rounds per case of 5.56
Ordered yesterday, delivery tomorrow. 👍

Great lesson, and one I'm sure he will not forget. My grown kids still remember the lessons I taught them as children.

I'll have to checkout the Sig Sauer site. 👍

I think I would’ve pointed to the grandson, and said “He’d like a box, please...”.

😉
The girl at the register put the ammo in a bag, gave me the receipt, and my grandson reached for the bag to carry it, and the girl said "He can't carry that, he's not old enough."

Before all this covid-19 stuff happened, me and the grandson have been in there, and I've handed him the boxes of 22LR (for his 10/22) to carry, while I retrieved ammo for my pistol(s) and AR, and then we took it to the register (only 8' away) to purchase. Nothing was said on those couple of occasions, but there were different employees working those days. The area the firearms, ammo, & accessories are located in is probably/maybe 20'x30', so it's not like being in a big box store, and traipsing all over the store. Oh well, rant over. :)
