Another 10 mm ,“ Honey this old thing….”

I decided on an XDM 10mm after they stopped making them, but maybe six months before they were listed as discontinued on Springfields website. I ruled Glock out because the size and shape of the grip. When the M&P 10mm was announced, I expected to end up with one. The G20 is like holding a 2x4, and the M&P 10mm is like a 1x4 in comparison. Long front to back but thin side to side. The stock palmswell is oddly fat, but the grip is still so thin that I literally didn't think I was holding a double stack 10mm, and made sure they handed me the right gun.

YouTube reviews are mixed on reliability.

I got the XDM Elite 4.5 10mm, which has been 100% on 13 different factory loads so far.

Myself and @BET7 I believe are the only 2 here that have at least one (he has 2). I have the 4" with thumb safety. I've only shot 4 mags worth and no issues yet I just need to site in the dot.
Yup, S&W 4.6" 10mm with safety (I really don't like a safety on a firearm but bought this due to limited availability at LGS). This I keep in my Hornady's Rapid safe with the safety off. Plus I have the 4" 10mm model sans safety.
I like 10mms and have several different makes (all of the Glock models (G29, G20, G40 MOS w/ Trijicon RMR), SA XDm 5.25" and 3.8" Elite, Ruger SR1911, Colt 1911 Delta Elite, SA 6" 1911 TRP, Sig P220 Hunter and have on order Sig P320 X-Ten and CMMG Banshee. (now am I forgetting any  🤷‍♂️:sneaky:)

I have a few too. Gen 4 Glock 20, Gen 4 29, and the XDM.
I’ll prob take the plung on the smith. The thinner slide is appealing but wonder if it will hold up on a light to moderate diet of Underwood or Buffalo bore .

I like the smith over the Glock due to metal mags. The poly mags aren't a favorite of mine! If I could get metal mags for them I'd be happy!
I'd take a Smith over a Glock any day for more reasons than just that. Nothing at all wrong with a S&W. The M&P line is great as are most of their other lines. They aren't in the same league as HK, Walther, Sig, Beretta, FN, etc.. I think maybe even the IWI stuff. Probably CZ too.

My primary carry gun is a Shield .45. It's great and I shoot it very well. My intention is not to trash S&W. I think they are top notch US made weapons ( their handguns anyway). I have shot some FNs and CZs that were fantastic though. I've not spent much time with a Sig, but people I know personally, trust implicitly and who are for realz operator types absolutely swear by them. HK and Walther are the kings. The cream of the crop. The best in the world.

Ya know these are just my ( possibly misguided) opinions brother. I ain't no one. Certainly not qualified to preach to the masses about what the best anything is. But HK IS the :poop:.:)

It takes a while to feel comfortable shooting a Glock. Grip angle is different.
I have learned that the G19, G23 size grip works for me a lot better then the full size Glocks, plus I don’t change the backstrap on mine either, and I do like the finger grooves on the Gen3 and Gen4, Gen5 done away with them, but the Gen5 trigger is way way better then the previous generations.
