Another Darwin Award - South Africa Edition

A Spanish tourist reportedly has been "trampled to death" by elephants in South Africa after he tried to get close to them to take pictures.

Well, they ( the elephants) owe us a few. More than a few actually. The world could use more elephant stampedes I always say.

Stupid tourist injured or killed by animals is a problem here in the U.S. as well. There have been several incidents in national parks of tourists being injured because they want to get close to the bison. There was a similar incident in one of the Texas state parks. I think it was in Caprock Canyon State Park in the Texas Panhandle.

Of course, having grown up raising cattle, I consider rodeo bull riders to be just as stupid as these hapless tourists.

That was my first thought too.
I doubt it in this case. The article mentions once the one elephant attacked then the whole herd joined in (that guy probably went home in buckets) and then drifted off into the bush. Somebody may cry for slaughter but hunting down the whole herd? Not gonna happen.

Sorry, no squishy video, but here is the South African news story. They say no action will be taken against the elephant, who was the matriarch, nor against the herd.

and no action should be taken against the animal....he was not a rogue elephant....

the idiot was warned.

of course, should that have happened in the states, i am certain a left wing DA would file charges, being anti elephant
