…another from The Sheriff

sorry to hear that the Sheriffs friend died.

i have read far too many times that i can recall, the people that say they have a gun "stashed" all over the house.

at first i was thinking like, WTF..??

but it can and does make sense, in a home invasion, that a firearm is available to the home owner.

yeah, it is sad too, that in our homes, we have to have weapons to defend ourselves, but this is the way the world has become, even long before many cities went "soft" on crime.

did anyone realistically ever think that being "soft" on crime, would make it end..???

I must admit that I wrestle with the quandary of having 9 grandkids and having a firearm immediately at hand in the house. When grandkids are here, or when I have had a cocktail, or at the end of the day, I typically place my pistol in a fast access safe. It only takes a second to get it out but is that fast enough? I also have a couple shotguns at strategic locations but have been cogitating on how to have a shotty immediately available in this day and age.

Well, those considerations are an issue…but break it down a bit:
Is having the grandkids over a deterrent in and of itself, to a would be invader? People up, noise, etc. maybe one of their parent’s car parked at the house? (I’m just speculating).
One option might be an IWB holster , but keep it unchambered.
Discreet, handy but safer.
Just a thought.

Terrible to hear that about the sheriff’s friend. And here in NJ our dopey gov just signed bills mandating storage of guns and ammo is separate locked containers regardless of whether it is to be used for home defense. Not very practical for home defense purposes.
There is a way around this. i will not elaborate in writing but i think you’ve already figured out the “work around”.

sometimes too, the more people there, the more people to rob, or slaughter if killing is the name of the game that night.

when my grandkids are over for a visit, they know darned well that poppy's and mama's bedroom is OFF limits at all times.

when they stay overnight, like in a babysitting situation, especially the smallest ones, they stay with mama, while i stay on the sofa.

that way, i'd be the first contact in a home invasion. but of all my mini gun collection, i only keep one available.

i cannot have guns all over the house, cuz sometimes, the grand kids come over, and i don't know about it, but the Mrs does, and just "forgets" to tell me.

my state Bill makers were trying to do the same, had that Bill passed, and thank God it didn't, i'd not comply.

that's MY work around.
