Any one here into turkey hunting?

Yes.

The seasons (spring & fall) run April to May & September to January.

They follow the receding snow line in the former & come down with the late fall & early winter, other than those that stick to private lands where some folks feed them all year. Access to them is almost non-existent except for a few landowners that feed the turkeys & have Block Mgt agreements with the state. But shooting semi-tame turkeys in someones field isn't sporting to me.

Access is tough even early on Fed lands with the snow blocking road access.

There weren't any turkeys in my area when I stopped hunting . Then I started working lots of hours and never got back into it. Plus a friend of mine loved to hunt and fish but didn't like to eat wild game and would only eat Flathead catfish. He gave me plenty of wild game and fish . He always found someone who would take it. He never wasted game or fish.

Now Turkeys are thick around here.

I just like to watch them

Only /winter/spring hunting we did was quail. Best birds ever! Last time I hunted turkey is when I was 8 or 9? Rule of hunting was clean all you killed. My brother (3 years older than i) set forth with our 410's (mine single shot & his was a pump action). There were lots of turkeys on our property so knowing where to hunt was easy. As we approached the heard ;) I asked him if he was ready (action closed) and he nodded yes. We approached on the low side where a creek was and slowly snuck closer as they (turkeys) we busy eating. Into the air they went as we both pulled the triggers. 4 came down, but I was the only 1 that fired. I guess the action wasn't fully closed:( on his gun. 2 dropped dead on the spot and 2 was badly wounded, so off to finish them. Now I had to clean 4 by myself which wasn't bad except for time consuming. If we had early hunting I wasn't aware of it as the fall was the only time we hunted turkey. Quail on the other hand if it took me all day I had no complaints! The only complaint i have now is there's not many to none at all on our property or in the county. Cleaning all 4 is the reason I don't hunt them ir even eat turkey anymore.

Best to you and your hunt!
