Any Suggestions For A Magazine Carrier For Mini 14 Magazines?

I'm looking for something similar to the old Alice M16 magazine pouches but a little bit smaller for a Mini-14 magazine.

I'm seriously considering just getting an old LBE set up.

Basically this minus the canteen and shovel

Search for surplus 20 round magazines pouches. Originally, then the M16 was adapted as the standard issue rifle they only came with 20 round magazines.

If you want load bearing gear that's not a bad option. I was looking into gear for one a year ago when I was thinking of getting one. I do not remember finding many pouches that were of a similar quality as part of a battle harness.

They were first produced in heavy canvas then they improved them by making them in nylon

My favorite rig comes from down under.
The tuck tabs on these pouches really beat plastic clips or hook&loop.

Trust me, I'm kind of old school as well.

I served in the Army from 1990 - 1994 and ALICE is what we used.

That being said a more modern vest, using MOLLE, would give you much more options and would probably be a little more comfortable.

And it doesn't have to be one of those armor carrying vest, there numerous awesome options for load bearing vest out there.

I know that's not an answer to the question you are asking but you may not want to limit your options.

I run a Blue force gear ten speed chest rig and like it. Light weight. The open top mag pouches may support a 20rd mag. I have some colt 20rd AR mags i can test it out on when I get home later tonight.

This is what I ended up with. It's an Eagle Industries magazine pouch designed to hold two m430 round magazines in each pouch. If you turn the magazine sideways it will hold three mini 14 magazines like the old Alice carriers used to.

20 rd metal colt mags stick out about 2”
