I realized a lifelong goal to have a fully equipped woodshop just before I turned 70. My goal is for each of my kids and grandkids to have a piece of furniture I built. In the middle of a walnut dining table right now but my next project is a walnut 1911 presentation box for my oldest son.
Would love to see other folks projects.

As a master carpenter back in my 30’s and 40’s I had a carpentry shop in both my basement and 2 car garage, all of my projects however were older home restoration, I did nothing in furniture as it’s very time consuming and I was busy enough remodeling kitchen, bathrooms and installing hardwood floors.
 
I was an avid woodworker most of my life. I haven’t had time the last 5 years or so. Projects ranging from picture frames to bedroom furniture. Most recent was refinishing an Amish made solid oak dinner table (why anyone would put water based finish on a kitchen table is beyond me, but they did). I stripped it to the wood and refinished it with oil based.

The 3 tier bunk I made out of the cabin wood when there were 3 boys. All the wall plaques were made from the original 2 story cabin wood.

my late dad and his brother did some wood work as i think maybe a hobby. they made rudimentary furniture, that to this day, i still have some here at the house.

i took up "wood shop" in Jr, High, and liked it, but mechanics was more my thing.

i made a gun "holder"? or 2, if just to set down the gun(s) as i clean them.

someday, i'd like to make better ones, but it'll have to be this coming winter/fall.

i have a nearly complete set of router bits (i had to buy) , and a router that i have NEVER used, i got it at the Casino as a prize one time.

just never really had any interest in applying myself

and my super-duper deluxe for revolvers, that "block" at the back end, was to keep the pistol on the stand, and not fall off...sometimes, it actually works.

I am not into the furniture or projects just yet. My main focus is around the house. Be it woodwork, repairs, etc. I made new wood lever knobs for our fireplace. I made a new gate and frame to our courtyard to replace the old, rotting one. Remodeled one bathroom. Replaced all the old toilets in the house. Our house is over 30 years old, custom build by an engineer. Replaced the ducting on the potbelly stove in our bedroom. Did mods on my smoker/grill combo, mods on my riding mower, working on getting the garage organized.

Same. I was a carpenter the majority of my adult life. I've built lots of stuff, but if I have a forte ( the jury is out on that) it's function over form. I can make stuff that works. I'm not an artist with wood and frankly I was never an overly impressive trim carpenter. I am a problem solver. One area I will put my artistic vision and quality up against anyone is exterior remodeling. I have been a gas worker for 10 years now. I am currently in the middle of renewing 475 gas services in an upscale neighborhood I did a crap ton of work in as a contractor in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. I replaced a gas service a few months ago on a house I installed windows and vinyl siding on in the early 90s. It still looks like it did the day I did it. Sunburst in the gables, herringbone under the windows, Lentils, very fancy. Of course the home owners from back then are probably dead, but I did tell the current owners I was the guy that did their house 30 years ago and they were impressed.

Anyway I digress. My father was a hobbyist woodworker my whole life and also a gunsmith, a welder and he made his money as a butcher. He built some beautiful stuff. He loved turning stuff on wood lathes. I inherited very little of his skill with wood. But I can frame a house or wire it or floor it 1000 times faster than he can. ha ha ha
