I had a 458 bolt rifle many years ago, had to get a second job just to buy a box of ammo way back then. i'd be scared to think what they cost now. yeah i know. what the heck you need a 458 in Arkysaw for. thought it would make a good squirrel rifle.

Legend has it, that it sometimes take 4-5 shots with a 458 to bring down some of those Arkysauce squirrels

doing some load workup (quick load) with a 458wsm and 20" barrel using swift 350a-frame i could reach just over 5k of muzzle energy. going 24" it gets close to 5,800. this would be an inside 500 yard rifle as drop gets horrible on those very low bc bullets. it would be a bear disabler for sure! the 350's brought the best energy for the cartridge, but others with better bc could go 1k yards easy.
