AR10 build

I'm looking at a precision AR10 build, something to scope up and take to the long range near me. I'm picturing 24= inch heavy barrel, fast twist for either a 6.5 or .308, flat top receiver, all that good stuff. Do you have any recommendations for an upper, BCG, and barrel? I understand most products are DPMS pattern so I'd like to stay with that.

LMT upper and lower, LMT enhanced BCG and Krieger barrel. If you cant swing a Krieger, than a 20” heavy marksman from SOLGW. Buy once cry once my man. Theres no sense in cheating yourself.

Oh, I plan to go top quality. No sense in going half way.

Well if you plan on hitting that target past 800m or 870 yards. Go with the 6.5. I hear it's a magic bullet that flies farther than the .308 can. And yeah Aero Precision is always having deals. Though I do recommend the Patriot Ordnance Tomahawk charging handle.

Thanks for the info! Who do you like for barrels? I've liked Sheilen for custom bolt guns but I hear great things about Kreiger for the AR platform.

Good question. I'm not familiar with brands out there. But I do know my metals. Find a high quality bimetallic barrel. Specifically designed to increase cooling efficiency. When steel gets hot. It expands. And when it expands it can lose temper and warp. Barrels that can cool off fast will last much longer. And maintain their accuracy.

That's great advice! Thanks!

I think I would start here:

A steal for 399, even if you dont use it all.

I mean, if you’re going to go with a precision build, then absolutely go with the best you can afford. You may be trading off a little bit of barrel life for more precision, but most everything will be a trade off of some sort. Just take care of the barrel and you’ll be fine. If you handload, keep an eye on the throat to check erosion. Some propellants are harder on it than others. Should be a hell of a shooter. 👍
