There are other countries that require military service from women as well as men. I am not surprised about that. They want to retire 56 A-10s. Man, that would be a shame. I quickly skimmed through it and will go through it more when my brain is rested. Thank you for posting it!

The A10 retirement is a mistake. But I remember when I was active duty they beat that drum about wanting to kill it before Desert storm. The. That saved it for a while then again in the late 1990’s it was brought up again then 9/11 and the A10 shined again. Now they are getting their wish.

As far as the women and selective service not an issue but someone will argue against it.

I remember when they retired the BBs....Those were such great ships, and I get the Navy's balking at the crew and refurb costs and all. Still it was the end of an era. The A10 can still be relevant for many uses.

I have no problem with women having to sign up for the draft. Seems to me that if they demanded to be allowed in combat roles they should have to fulfill the same requirements as men. It's ceremonial anyway. If another draft was ever utilized in this country things will have gotten so bad that all armed citizens will in effect become soldiers regardless.
