Been learning...

So I've been a student to an online gunsmithing school and despite the challenges I am still learning a lot. One service I intend on doing is browning and bluing. If you want to try on your own, a very basic and safe (chemically speaking and to the user) recipe, try the following on some scrap steel first: Add 5 tablespoons of common table salt to a pint of distilled water. Mix with a glass rod and store in a clean bottle or jar.

Please note DISTILLED water. It (bluing and browning) IS a chemical process after all and distilled water is as pure as it gets. You also just cleaned, buffed and degreased your metal, which is time consuming in and of itself when done right. You don't want impurities in your tap and well water contaminating your project. I reckon you could do this with all manner of tools such as axes, hammers, knives etc
