Behold, the Whale Gun

I've wanted a rifled slug gun for at least twenty years, preferably a single shot.

The last time I saw a Harrington & Richardson single shot was in 04, or maybe 05, and I missed the chance to get it.

Then, one of my go-to shops posted one on GB earlier this week, and I've been watching it since it posted.

And I've been trying to figure a good way to get my hands on this one.

Well, today I did.

The barrel began life as a 10 guage blank, so it's 24 inches long, and HEAVY, with a three inch chamber..

The search for suitable glass has begun in earnest, but I'm in no hurry.

Thing looks like a cannon from head on.......

I had one of those in 20ga.

4” group with the right sabots out to 150 yards.

Ran a Burris(?) 1-4x on it, iirc.

This will be my first nearly exclusive 3 inch gun.

So depending on the recoil impulse, the wood may get changed out to what my other HRAs have.

You’ll want to stick with sabots…

That being said, the major manufacturers all make a variety; W-W, Federal, Remington, Hornady…Brenneke makes some good ones, too.

However, they are pricy…$4-5 per round.

I guess it'll be a guilty pleasure gun then lol.

I missed out on a 300 H&H Remington 721 about two years ago, compared to ammo to feed it, this things CHEAP to shoot.
