An interesting in-depth view into some of the best thermal imaging rifle scopes for 2021.
Fairly long article with pics, specs, pros/cons and prices for novices and experienced into the thermal imaging world:

Im not a huge fan of the thermal tube “scope” vs the thermal scope that is the larger square

those 30mm tube scope have a very narrow field of view. Makes shooting or following an animal difficult, just like a regular scope would, say like a 3x9. The thermal optics with the larger screen have better field of view and better for an animal that bolts like a herd of hogs.

Thanks KF1977,
Good thoughts and good to know too!

I do have armasight, atn and flir some thermal and some nv, but haven't fully tested them yet. And yes the 4 AA batteries drain quickly. 1 of them offers an external power supply for longer run time. I'll post what I do have with pics later for the inquisitive minds.

Cool! Thanks TL,

On scope batteries, had thoughts of using an external power pack if they use USB charging ports for rechargeables?

Looked at Flir website as well. They've got a very nice site. This article thought was pretty useful since it posted different scopes instead of just one particular brand.

These are clip on (non variable) nv

I run a Pulsar Trail xq38 and 2 FlIR PtS233.

the FLIR is excellent, but The Pulsar Trail is phenomenal. The pulsar screen is like looking at a HD tv. Amazing image clarity. Will see out in an open field about 800 yards. You can differentiate between deer, hog and cow anout 400 yards. Male or female (horns) etc about 200 yards and see dirt flying from hogs about 150 yards...

FLiR pics:
Pic 1 . About 40 yards. Hog shot and 1 running
Pic 2 . About 100 yrds
Pic 3 Had my 2nd FLiR off rifle and in my hand as low weight scout for the shooter
Edit: both run full motion video and stll photos. Flir does it upon recoil and starts saved video from 5 sec before recoil. Pulsar I have to press a button to start video
