Blast from the past

Ronin
Found these two blades from the days of my last one watch owning time, hiding in my backpack of knives I retained after my nephews came over and savaged my stores. An AG Russell Hunters Scalpel and a Blackjack knives Folding Mamba

Blackjack knives was Mike Stewarts first venture in a knife company in the early 80s. Made some nice knives but had financial problems or something of the like and went under. More recently Mike Stewart went to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in Bark River near Escanaba and opened Bark River knives. They make some very nice blades, I have visted there and was hard pressed to leave without one, but i feel next time that will change.

Those are fine knives and a fine watch

In between ( about 1996 thru 2001 or 2002) Mike Stewart helped Marbles get back into the knife market. They put out some awfully good knives in the so called Mike Stewart era.

This is a Special Factory order from 2000 that was made in very limited quantities for the Ohio Gun Collectors Assn. It is a Campcraft (new for 2000) made from 52100 steel.

I also have a Blackjack Mamba.

One of my favorite pocket folders.

Wish that design was still made.

My work and often Edc knives for many years were all a version of the Blackie Collins designed Bolt Action folder. The last Meyerco versions were lower end than the Gerber but had two updates, a pocket clip and thumb stud. I carried them for work for at least a decade or more even after changin EDC. Still carry one in my GHB. One interesting thing was Steven Dick past editor of Blade magazine I think it was, always said the Bolt Action handle and lock were his favorite too.
