Bringing the Sig Cross rifle into Canada????

Greeting everyone. I am new to this page and need some advice.

I have a dalls sheep hunt booked in the NWT in 2024 and recently bought the Sig Cross rifle in 6.5 Creedmore. So far I love the rifle and its weight

Of course now I am wondering if a hunter can even bring one into Canada. (I am a US citizen) I see online that ARs are not allowed but not sure where the sig cross would fit or what a border officer would say. Needless to say there is alot riding on this hunt cost wise.. I know I should have researched more before hand...

Any thoughts or advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a bolt action, so it shouldn’t be an issue there.

You may want to check and see if there is a minimum barrel length. I don’t think Canada has issues with them, but I could be wrong.

You could also check with your outfitter/guide. They would know.

I have friends who hunt in Canada and they tell me they have less problems getting their guns in and out than they do liquor and especially food.

Thanks for your help and advice. I see online that guns need to be 660mm (26") long so I think I am good. It just looks like an AR style so I am worried what a uneducated border guard may say.

Just make sure the stock isn’t folded, and you shouldn’t have a problem.
