Brown nosers..

Old_Me

SAINT
i think many of you dealt with one or 2...that's what they are called.

i worked at a heat treating company many years ago, as i as attending trucking school.

there was this 1 gal, although her name wasn't "Karen", it should have been.

well, this one day i missed work, due to testing at the school. "Karen" said "you have to work on saturday, to make up that day"

i told her to....well.......you know....

she goes running to the stupidvisor telling him i refused to work on a saturday to make my lost day.

He comes over and says, "it's mandatory to make up lost days"

i told him...........well .......you know......

i was in school to learn a new skill set, does anyone think i could care about some dead end factory job..????

1st, i could have given a flip if i lost a days pay, as a trucker i sat for a week, cuz i was plum tuckered out, putting in "up to" 90 hours a week, hours which could NEVER be counted for legally.

bosses never said anything. i was a runner, when i got back in the truck.

2nd, it's always up to ME, if i want to make up work, that even went along back in younger years as a mechanic. bosses never said anything, as i was a producer of money for the shops.

so, how many of you have a "brown noser story", of either some "Karen", or maybe the male counter-part, a "Darren"...?????

It's called a sibling for lack of better term!

She usually starts out saying "But mother" in her own special way to draw attention away from what disruption she caused! Me laughing at her when she says it only makes her more mad and then points a few fingers at me and says "See"! Apparently, I'm the cause of world hunger, no peace in the middle east and for the last election results? Also it's my fault for her bad life choices (marriage, children and you name it). Her being older I tell "like it's my fault for being born" (she's older than I)! Can we get a refund please! She brown noses as much as she can to try and get her way at the ripe old age of 62! I don't need Comedy Central or any other comedy show, cause it's next door 24/7!

Once a rat, always a rat.

I can think of a few from my first crack at employment all the way up to retirement.

Very first full time job, there has a relative planted in the crew. I had a dislike for the foreman/owner who was an absolute raging maniac. Expressed my views in a rant session at break time one Thursday with the crew. By Friday I was gone! Turned out the rat was a nephew at the next table.

Another instance, a chap with the least seniority was given a coveted slot on the daytime crew from dreadful graveyard shift. He was like a twitchy hawk looking for someone to veer off the up & up, then we suspect he’d squeal and earn brownie points of another term on the daytime shift. Never seen someone so involved with someone else was doing. When management changed over, this louse was somehow never picked for the daytime crew anymore.

Another boner would come out of the upstairs office desk clerk pool to work the fields with the have-nots, gather some scuttlebutt for a day or week then return back to report on what he observed. We knew this because every time this cad came to hobnob, a new, stricter work rule was implemented thereafter.

Glad the days are over for sneaking an extra break, a few minutes under a shade tree, not wearing a name tag, faking a illness or spouting off at the rules.

The Internet refers to a male "Karen" as "Ken." These nicknames crack me up, but seem so fitting.

I am really fortunate that I have never met either in real life.

I worked in a company where one of the male managers(who was married) was having an affair with an assistant female manager. I tried to avoid getting involved in any of the gossip. Somehow the male manager thought I had insulted the female manager and called me into his office.

I was already tired of all the drama in that office. Plus the manager wasn't very good and I was tired of putting out fires with the customers he had started because of his large ego. I had made a decision to leave I was just deciding when to give my 2 week notice. I had been setting up job interviews for my next job..:)

So I'm in the office and the female manager shows up. It's a small office and they start insulting me and trying to threaten me. I tried to remain calm and was able to do so for a bit. But when the manager started getting very close to me and raising his voice, I said, "Please do not violate my personal space because I see your actions as a physical threat.". I then stood up and he moved back quickly. I guess he thought I was going to punch his lights out. I will not deny that the thought crossed my mind.

I'm not a violent guy most of the time but the way that guy approached me and the way the female assistant manager seemed to push him to be more aggressive toward me I really wanted to knock him out. I also secretly hoped he'd get in my face so I could be somewhat justified in defending myself.

There was only one entrance and exit to that office and the manager was blocking it. I guess I gave out a vibe that I was going to start hitting because when I stood up, they both got quiet and gave me room to leave. As I got out of the door I said, "I quit.". I walked to my desk, got a couple of personal things and walked out and never came back.

I've taught martial arts for many years. I have worked as a bouncer, armed security officer, and as a bodyguard. Few people have ever pissed me off like that manager did. I worked for him for 2 years and tried hard to avoid arguments and such. When he started cheating on his wife with the assistant manager he started being very aggressive with many of the employees and over 50% of my co-workers left before I quit.

It took all my martial arts training and experience as a bouncer to not hit him. I'm glad I was able to avoid doing so. It also helped that I had access to a heavy bag at home and I had one of the most intense workouts after I walked out of the building...:)

I had a new job about 3 weeks later, making more money with a heck of a lot less drama...:) I don't miss working for that "Ken"...:)

(FYI - My name is not Ken, kenpomaniac comes from being a 4th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and being a hard core physical maniac on how intensely I used to train....:))

Well, my name is Ken and I have an Aunt Karen. She's nothing like those "Karen's" out there for sure!
i once went to school with a Karen, and she was really sweet, and caring......then later in life we dated, and yes, we "mated", but we went and married different people.

i have a BIL named Ken..........and he's an idiot.........but nothing like a "Darren".........
