Buyer Beware: Lessons from Online Gun Buying

I've bought several new guns from online dealers, but have never purchased a used gun online. I'm not opposed to buying a gun on Gunbroker, but I have never been able to find an attractive deal on their site. I was surprised to see how many used guns on Gunbroker have higher asking prices than new copies of the same gun from online dealers. I can only really see myself using Gunbroker for hard-to-find guns that are out of production. Most of the stuff I'm interested in is still being made and can be found on dealer sites if I'm willing to be patient.

I would never buy any used gun without having it in my hand first. And I would never bid on a gun from an auction site.
For the most part agree with online firearm sales are like chancing or treading on rough waters. Especially from private sellers.
Although one important destinction is from some of sellers descriptions, there may be a 3 day trial period or trial period to check out particular firearm at LGS who received firearm. Regardless, buying firearms online is a cumbersome time consuming process that's not for everyone.
