Choke Tubes for Home Defense Shotguns

I think the real lesson - which of-course we all knew heading into this test - is that the end-user really needs to pattern that unique gun, with the ammo they're looking to use.

That said, I felt that the article really was a good way to look at how real-world performance sometimes meshes - and sometimes not - versus our expectations and "rules of thumb."
 
I can tell you right now they're not necessary. At least for most of us mere mortals. That said, if your shotgun is threaded for a choke, don't shoot it or clean it without a choke in there.
