Christmas Morning Excitement

We had 4 kids. For years Mrs Greener and I slept on the floor under the tree Christmas Eve to run interference from the O-Dark-Thirty assault on the gifts. Nowadays I don't sleep on the floor for fear of not being able to get back up, but Christmas morning chaos created many of our fondest memories.

oh what joy it was for me, to be kneeling or sitting on the floor, assembling the bikes or trikes or other toys, and not being able to get up when i was younger, let alone at my age now.

now with my adult kids, playing Santa, the only worries i have is understanding the newest craze in video games.

do they still make good old fashioned board games..??

We make our grands play board games when they visit. We are so booooring! I also make them watch John Wayne movies.

Oh how I remember those days! On Christmas Day I probably covered more ground that Santa. We would start the day at about 5AM and open gifts. Then we'd load into the car and drive to my parents house near Charlottesville. We'd open gifts there and eat lunch and then it was off the Lynchburg so my wife's parents could see the boys on Christmas Day. Don't know how we did it, but somehow we managed. On another note, here's a song that expresses that bit of excitement that drives all of us on Christmas Day:

Pretty good memories.
I was an only child, so it was limited in that regard.
Raised by a single mom, but she took a part-time job every year in addition to her full-time job, and hooked it up. We were otherwise on the poor side, but she took care of me at Christmas.
One year she worked at a toy store. I got the aircraft carried from GI Joe. It was bigger than my twin bed LOL

Still have 2 kids at home now. One will be 19 on Christmas day, the other is still just 11, so plenty of more time to make new memories

Boys! Enjoy every minute of the fun when they are young and at home. All 4 of mine have grown up and lives of their own, as most of the 8 grandkids. Very hard to get together anymore. With the wife passing 5 yrs ago. Life can really slow down. Enjoy and merry Christmas!

I definitely miss those Christmas mornings and the memories created but with my boys grown and on their own it’s a wonderful feeling knowing they are happy, safe and living comfortable lives building memories of their own.
