Classic Cartridges: Is The .30-06 Springfield All You Need?

More than 100 years after its introduction, the venerable .30-06 Springfield remains one of the best all-around hunting cartridges.

Is The .30-06 Springfield All You Need?
I'll be that guy. 308 WIN/7.62x51 is all you need. (Forget these pandemic times). 308 is found relatively everywhere cheaper than 30-06. It can take any game in North America. Unless you reload, you'll find more types of 308 vs 30-06 at your local store. It's just a logistically smart caliber. IMHO..

All I need ? No. Do I have 2 of them? Yes. I also have 4 30-30s, two of which are nearly identical 1894s. I used to have a really nice .308 my buddy sold me. It started it's life as a British Enfield. He put a sporterized stock on it, glass bedded the barrel. It was a great deer gun. Many years ago I got hard up for grocery money one winter and sold it to my neighbor. I went to buy it back from him a few weeks later and he had already sold it.

‘06 has the ability to run heavy bullets that won’t work in a .308.
