Colorado Raises Gun Buying Age To 21

If you are old enough to vote, rent your own apartment and live on your own as an “adult” you should be able to purchase a firearm.

My 19 yr old daughter is on her own living in another state for school in an apartment. Massively proficient in firearms and safety, is an RO for kids at a local shooting club, but yet cannot own a pistol to defend herself.

There are lots and lots of “adults” ages 21+ thru whatever age you want to pick that have zero business owning a firearm.
Not talking about mental state of mind, I’m talking inept, dangerous, unsafe and have no clue about the firearm they own.

I must have missed that part in the 2A that says a person has to be a certain age to buy and own a firearm. I admit that there are certain people who shouldn't have a firearm at any age . So what difference does it make if you are 15 or 35.

I will never give in to any concessions when it comes to our Government or the anti-gunners .

And some (insert: we all know who) want to lower the voting age to 16.

More Children of the Corn...

Remember the term “going postal”.
It wasnt because of a bunch of 18 yr olds.
Any age can use a tool for ill intent.
If they are deemed old enough to serve in the military, the are old enough to own a firearm.
The military can teach firearms instruction and so can a competent qualified instructor at a civilian range .
Hell, my RO/instructor was a Marine instructor.
I bet more crime is committed with a firearm above 21 yrs of age than below.. just a hunch here

A contentious issue, without doubt, but I concur. In my history, there was an astounding difference in maturation between ages eighteen and twenty one.
Maybe for you. By the time I was 18 I had been living on my own for about 3 years. I was also well versed in what to do and not to do with a firearm and had several of my own. I also paid my own way.

Look. You can't have it both ways. If you can vote, sign a legal contract, join the military, get married and go to prison you should damn well be allowed to drink and own a gun. You want to raise the age to 21, then get congress to agree to raise the age of emancipation to 21, otherwise you're just pissing up a rope. This law has been struck down in 2 other states already and it will not stand in Commierado either.

I was trained and "safe" with a firearm at age 12. As were all of my friends at the time. If you are an "adult", you should have 2A rights.

My, I am sorry to have raised your hackles. Be assured, I value and appreciate your opinions.

Not sure why you think you raised anything, let alone my hackles. I promise you you didn't. In fact my hackles are unraisable. My hackles are so low they just won a limbo contest.
Nevertheless, the problem always starts when people start thinking their experiences have given them an opinion that is not only valid, but important enough that it should be able to usurp the constitution.
