That would be a no for me for a number of reasons. If you go with a bushing type, it’s likely going to not be fit to the barrel well and you’ll sacrifice accuracy. How much depends on how it fits. Second, they aren’t super effective compared to barrel mounted. Wilson makes one that I’ve heard claims are up to 30 recoil reduction but I’ve never tried one. Most I suspect are probably around 10-15%.
If you go barrel mounted, you’ll need a threaded barrel to mount it to and it needs to be properly set to make sure your slide isn’t going to slam into it (if seen this, not good). If you don’t have a threaded barrel for this type, then you’ll have to buy one and have it fitted to your gun. This is all assuming you are shooting a .45. Get into 9mm or 38 super, now you’ve likely introduced enough resistance to cause the gun to not reliably function without tuning/spring changes.
Brother has one on one of his but honestly, he rarely shoots it. Very rarely. It’s a bushing type that’s really there for looks. I’ve not accuracy tested it but I’ve shot it and it’s not horrible. Must be those super sexy camo rubber grips on it (yikes) that make it shoot better, according to him anyway. It’s just a can of worms I’d rather not open.
