Conceal Carry Permit "Most-Armed" States"

Sort of a misleading title since when you go to it it only pertains to CCW holders.

Doing the math shows Montana at 5.7%, but in Montana Concealed carry without a permit is generally allowed outside city, town, or logging camp limits. So I would guess the percentage of Montanans that carry concealed outside those restrictions is higher.

Under Montana law a permit is necessary only when the weapon is " wholly or partially covered by the clothing or wearing apparel ", therefore it is legal to carry and/or keep a firearm inside a vehicle without a permit (as long as it is not concealed on the person).

See the other post for overall firearms ownership.

Changed the thread title. ;)

MT also only has six "cities" with the largest being ~110,000 folks, so outside those I'd also suspect there's not many towns (logging camps really don't exist anymore) really give a rip about carry w/o a permit, but it's always wise not to take that risk.

Plus, Open carry is legal in Montana without a permit for anyone at least 18 years old that can legally own a firearm with several restrictions. The federal minimum age is 18 years old, although state law allows 14-year-olds to carry or use a firearm in public under direct supervision of a parent, guardian, qualified firearms safety instructor or an adult who has been authorized by the parent or guardian. Some areas are off-limits, including schools and federal buildings.

And our city limits aren't that big & easy to get out of quick.

Hope will never prevail. Have to hit the deck and educate.... then you will see it. IMHO
We have State senators & legislators that are for it. One keeps proposing the legislation. Unforunately both our Dem. Governor and AG, are of the anti gun type and oppose it. Sadly, there's not enough in our State legislation Houses to override the Governor's veto. Try as we may to vote pro gun advocates in, it's the big cities that keep getting these liberals into office (you know, free stuff, Illegals and dead people voting, etc). But we'll keep plugging away.

I don't think Illinois has to worry about ever being near the top . Not with our highest training hours ( 16 ) and cost of license ( $150.00 for 5 years ). The training goes for around $200.00 for the 16 hour course then after 5 years are up you have to do another 3 hr training course for around $50.00 plus another $150.00 for the license again . We also have a 30 round live fire for original and a 30 round live fire for renewal.

This state sucks.

Man do I know how you feel.

With Kentucky being a Constitutional Carry State for both open and concealed I haven’t given much thought to a CCW however I’m thinking of getting it just to have no issues in this madness. Also being out of work right now it gives me the time.
On another note the Shoot Point Blank store I shop at is starting to open up its indoor range. Unfortunately they are starting with just members first getting range time.

I went ahead and got my CCDW, mostly due to the new dem governor & his negative stance on constitutional carry, plus having it I can legally carry when I cross the river to Indiana, or traveling to Florida. I did the online application using the military training affidavit (notarized), photo submission form, copy of dd-214, and a cost of $70. Only took 12 days. Good for 5 yrs. If one has no military training, you send a copy of the certificate from concealed carry class.

Woo-hoo, I'm a "1%-er" here in Maryland! We're a "may-issue" state with ridiculous requirements as well as crazy qualifications...but I've got mine and I'm never letting it go. I also have my PA non-resident ("wait...you have a MARYLAND permit?? Yeah...sign here...all done!") just for reciprocity - and because I live eight feet from the PA state line. Next time I visit FL, I'll be getting that non-resident as well since I have family there (and THAT reciprocity will get me quite a few more states).

Oh, the dream for 50 state reciprocity....sigh.....

One of my brothers, the ret'd LEO naturally had his KY concealed carry permit, and after he moved to Florida last year, he got his FL permit. Just recently, he got his LEOSA permit. He's real happy now. :)
