Interesting story developing in Sherwood, Arkansas, where a concealed carrier reportedly discharged a firearm inside a Walmart location to break up a fight.

Yea that definitely wasn't a smart move. Firing a warning shot especially in a public place like that is stupid. opens herself up to a lot of legal trouble if bystanders or the store wanted to press the issue.

Of course it's Arkansas.....sigh......just a dumb move. What if the combatants had decided to charge her after she fired the shot, or challenged her, then you get into a possible shooting situation. Just not a smart play.

My primary focus would be to get my family to safety [first and foremost], while continually assessing the situation and my surroundings. Afterwards, call 911 from a position of safety and be a good witness.

Cant help but wonder if this was a relatively new gun owner since this sounds like someone new to firearm ownership and is unaware of all the factors (+\-) in making a decision like that.

Agreed. Every firearms training class I've ever taken, this has never come up a something you should do.

Every class I've taken, the rule is similar to the "four rules of gun safety" - "don't pull the trigger unless you're ready to destroy something".

Don't shoot to wound.
Don't fire warning shots.
Don't even DISPLAY your weapon until you have decided your only choice is to kill an attacker in order to save your own life, or the life of a loved one.

This could get bad if Walmart decides to ban guns in there stores, they’ve been threatening to do it for years. This won’t help.

She was probably well intended, but incredibly naive and/or simply stupid to do this. It's this kind of thing that gives all gun owners a black eye.

My point on this story, yes, she might have meant well, but not a warning shot inside the store, my other point, it was none of her business to get involved, you only draw your weapon if you have to, in YOUR OWN DEFENSE OR A FAMILY MEMBER, not any bystanders, she was not a law enforcement officer, you can’t take the law into your own hands when it comes to others. Agree...Agree...Agree...Many people that carry don't fully understand when they can actually fire their weapon. I feel a small group think when they start to carry they are a protector of mankind.
