Correct Lubrication

Recently bought a SA Ronin, and my question is about the correct lubrications to use on aluminum and steel. The slide is steel and the frame is aluminum.
Congrats on the Ronin - I love mine ! Full size (ie, all steel)...

Well, step one is always What does the owners manual say ?
If you are asking for type and/or brand of lube, I use and recommend Tetra or Lucas. The Ronin is a fairly tight fit, so oil is probably better than grease (which would only go on the rails and possibly a dab spread around inside the barrel bushing). Don’t overlube - But whatever you do, do not under lube it.

Check out Wilson Combat for some vids. But owners manual is first.

Understand concern. But, they're both alloys intended for firearms usage. Read owners manual for what lube's recommended and go from there. If still in doubt, contact customer service. SA's customer service is top notch.

Clean and lube as recommended as well. Both are very important, sediment, residue or foreign contaminants can cause issues.

I never worry about what a manufacturer recommends because they change that so often that it's obviously just marketing. You can read reviews on the internet, but that's a lot of crap you don't really need to hear. Mostly people telling you their favorites. I prefer to either get opinions from people I am familiar with, such as people here, or people I know personally. The best and most fun way though is to just shoot the hell out of your guns and try a bunch of different stuff until you find what you like best. I'm pretty sure motor oil and Lubriplate or moly grease would do as good a job as anything else for average shooters.

In a pinch have used sewing machine oil too.

About the only lubes you want to avoid are WD40 and “3 in 1 oil”—WD40 will cause rust because it attracts water, and 3/1 has an acidic chemical additive that can damage untreated mild metal parts over time.

Both would do in a pinch, of course, but you’d probably want to do a pretty detailed strip & clean followed by proper lubricant as soon as you could.
