Countering the Kamikaze

Good read.

Thinking about the damage ships rec'd during battle, the thought occured to me that if "every Marine is a rifleman", then I'd be obliged to say that every Sailor is a firefighter.
My father was a (2nd class ship fitter) on the USS Iowa during WW2 the limited stories he told was running around the ship during battles and welding plates of steel over bullet holes and putting out fires.
I will never forget when he took me to see the original version of
Tora Tora Tora. 1st time I saw him cry, the second time was the day my son was born.

I've been lucky enough to visit three US Battleships that are on display around the country.

As a kid the USS Massachusetts and North Carolina, and recently the USS Missouri. The later being an emotional experience since the WW2 documents were signed there.

I read a lot of WW2 history books, and with my Dad and other relatives participating in that War what they went through is/was chilling.
