I must be old, I still prefer aluminum over polymer. Not to say I don't have Magpul, just like my old surplus mags. Once new springs and no tilt followers are installed they are choice.
The updated versions (I say updated but it’s over 25 years old) GI mags with the green follower are hard to beat.

I have a few Magpul and they are alt eight but I have seen them get jacked up when folks drop them in the lips. My agency bought a bunch of Gen 1 Magpuls and they did not hold up several mags started splitting open in the back where the mold seam is from being loaded in duty guns. I know they fixed it and we had better luck with the Gen 3 and 4 mags

Never had those issues with GI mags. Hopefully the new mags will be just as good!
