De-California My Saint

I legally purchased a California compliant SA Saint from a friend through our mutual FFL before he moved out of state. I have now moved out of California and wish to “de-California” my Saint and return it to its original beauty. Does SA sell the parts I need to do this or do I have to go third party?

SA doesn't sell separate AR parts. They are pretty much universal & readily available so there's no need to try to buy from SA anyhow.

Which parts do you want to change out based on CAs' requirements?
Straight from SA website, I’d like to change out what is described below:
“Factory-equipped with state-approved stock, 10-round magazine, and muzzle brake, the new California-edition SAINT delivers the performance, reliability and value every SAINT is known for – yet does not require registration as an “assault rifle” and does not demand questionable aftermarket modifications.”

“The California model of the SAINT featuring a free float handguard is a “featureless” firearm, with no components that might call compliance into question

“Instead of the standard SAINT six-position buttstock and Bravo Company Mod 3 pistol grip, the California SAINT has a rigid Survivor System Option Zero stock and Tango Down BG 16 grip. The stock feels and fits like a sporting rifle, and the angled “back paddle” grip keeps the thumb on one side of the firearm — a shooting position that’s easily adopted, accurate, and state compliant.”

“A 10-round MAGPUL PMAG Gen M3 magazine replaces the standard 30-round version. Instead of a typical AR-15 flash hider, the California SAINT sports a proprietary Springfield Armory muzzle brake that dampens barrel jump and meets state specs.”

Buy a stock you like, a grip you like and some 30 round P mags.

I suggest a SOPMOD stock and the BCM GF Mod 3.

No point in throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm sorry, I was being rude as hell. Throw it out with the bathwater and start over.
Why ? Because it's hard to change a stock and a grip ? Literally 5 minutes and less than $100. He could even put the same crap on it all you guys with Saints have since they use BCM furniture.

Wait, I think you guys are right. Throw it out. I'll send you my address. I'll even give you $400 for it.

Well we do have St. Louis so I can't brag, but at least we don't have Austin. And Texarkana.:p;)

Take the CA stock off, buy a Magpul CTR and a Magpul MIAD grip, (both better than the standard SA 6-position & Mod 3 grip), and install. Keep the handguard since it look ok. If you want to ditch the muzzle break, although folks install muzzle breaks on their ARs, take it to a gunsmith to take it off then thread the barrel & install whatever flash hider you want.

If you now live in a nonrestricted state this package will get you most of everything you need for a premium configuration with an upgraded trigger. If you do not have the tools or know how to get this installed I'm sure a local gunsmith could install these parts for short money.

Magpul Pmags are pretty inexpensive and you can find them at pretty much any online firearms store.

As a side note there are a few states that have restrictions related to firearm accessories so I recommend you do you're homework before starting to upgrade.

That's a nice price on a nice kit. The trigger is nice too.
