Dick Kramer

I worked with Dick and he steered me to my first home in Nutley, NJ. A great friend for many years. He was selling his first, and I believe only, oil painting to buy his wife a gift for their fifth anniversary. I don't remember the price I paid but I believe it was under $100. It was a painting of the capture of Dr. Zhivago in black, white, and gray. It hangs in my dining room 60 years later. I am truly sorry he is gone. A good friend for many years.

Dick was one of a kind, a national treasure. I first met him when he came to Southeast Asia as part of the Air Force Art Project and I was assigned as his escort. Many years later when I was a police chief I commissioned him to do a print commemorating the department's 75th anniversary. He also inspired my daughter who became a fine artist herself. We were friends on social media and I miss him.

One of my daughter's pencil drawings. You can see Dick's influence.
