You need to double check it at least.
It should be very close to dead on. Only shooting it will tell.

I take the batteries out of mine every time I use it I've never re zeroed one. I have several different types and names of them I have never had to re-zero one

Unless the dot is zeroed electronically I would think you would not have to. all mine have a adjustment screws that you move up and down left to right so it shouldn't change anything

I have done my batteries multiple times and have rarely found that I was off when doing a test zero after... however, make sure you are consistently torquing the same every time and it may help to have made lines or marks for visual verification.

Oh shoot I didn't think about the ones you have to take off to change the batteries you may have to all mine are able to change the batteries without removing the site. Just take it out and shoot it a couple of times you'll be able to tell
