Ok guys need some help wife and are planning a road to Texas from California we are thinking we would drive about 550 miles a day what are the best stops to stay a night at . We figured Las Vegas would be out first stop we are lost after that thank you in advance

If it’s a road trip I would do Vegas to Moab, UT (Arches Nat Park), Moab to Fort Collins/Denver/Colorado Spring (all reasonably close), Colorado to Amarillo, Amarillo to Dallas (you didn’t say where in Texas).

If it were me I would do Denver to Dallas in one shot, but it’s about a 15hr drive for me. YMMV.

Sorry about that I meant to put down San Antonio would you change that route thanks Simon

Do a Google maps and input your start/stop points and they will provide and describe several options, including attractions, hotels, and even plain old rest areas.

The sights out that way I want to show my wife, who has never been there are: Grand Canyon, painted desert, the volcano crater park, hopi Indian ruins, and a few others not right at the top of my head.

I think going to San Antonio you might be able to find an interesting route through TX rather than doing Amarillo to Dallas to SA. That’s a boring ride.
Agree completely
Texas panhandle to dallas is dull
But then again, so is el paso to san antonio
