I have had it happen over the years. Goldcup, other assorted 1911's, S&W 4006, M&P 40, TT33 don't recall it ever happening with M&P 9, Glock or any gun with a heal mag release. Then in fairness I'm a bit ham fisted and work guns like I mean it, not abusive but I don't treat them like they are made of Waterford crystal either. JMHO, I wouldn't count on a slam load. It would be mighty embarrassing (or worse) to mag change, back on target only to find yourself looking down the slide that's locked back. Ingrain in yourself to hit that slide release or slingshot until it is as natural as breathing. Time to rat myself out. Sometimes I find that after shooting bottom feeders a lot, that when I draw my 638 I "swipe the safety off"
Muscle memory!
