EDC Ammo

USMC1911

Master Class
What’s your favorite EDC ammunition? I carry Hornady Critical Duty and/or Critical Defense. I travel into NJ a lot and was told they allow this type of ammunition. NJ has issues with Hollow Points. I purchase them in .380, 9mm and .45. The 9mm I have in 125 and 135 grain + P.

.45-230gr HST or Golden Saber

.22LR = Federal Punch or CCI Mini-Mags
.22 Mag = Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel
.38 SPL = Black Hills Honey Badger
9mm = Black Hills Honey Badger or Ranger SXT
.357 Mag. = Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel or Winchester Super-X
.40 = Speer Gold Dot or Ranger SXT
.45 ACP = I don't remember, I only bought the one box ...?
.45 Colt = Hornady LEVERevolution
10mm = that box of reloads I found in the road and still haven't picked up any more because shooting .40 is easier and cheaper.

135 Critical duty or 124 HST generally in 9mm though have some older agency 147 Gold Dots

Duty gun 220 Crtical Duty or 230 HST in 45. I also have a couple 20 round boxes of 230 Punch I travel with as I generally run my M&P 45 compact when I go to Seattle.

38I like 135 Gold dot or plain wadcutter if a snub
357 145 Silvertip 125 or 158 SJHP it don’t matter!

I'm currently carrying 124 Grain Speer Gold Dots.

Dr. Gary Roberts is the guy who tells the FBI what to buy. He wrote the article above on self-defense/duty ammunition.

9 mm:
Barnes XPB 115 gr JHP (copper bullet)
Federal Tactical 124 gr JHP (LE9T1)
Federal HST 124 gr +P JHP (P9HST3)
Remington Golden Saber bonded 124 gr +P JHP (GSB9MMD)
Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P JHP
Winchester Ranger-T 124 gr +P JHP (RA9124TP)
Winchester 124 gr +P bonded JHP (RA9BA)
Winchester Ranger-T 127 gr +P+ JHP (RA9TA)
Federal Tactical 135 gr +P JHP (LE9T5)
Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr +P PT
Federal HST 147 gr JHP (P9HST2)
Remington Golden Saber 147 gr JHP (GS9MMC)
Speer Gold Dot 147 gr JHP
Speer G2 147 gr PT
Winchester Ranger-T 147 gr JHP (RA9T)
Winchester 147 gr bonded JHP (RA9B/Q4364)

I try to keep the Gold Dots on hand but I'd trust anything on this list, also compiled by Dr. Roberts
