EMP4 not locking back

I've had my EMP4 for a few years now and it used to be my EDC until I started using optics. I love the gun. One of my all time favs and I don't want to mill the slide for an optic so I don't carry it often now. But I still love to shoot it and I use it with some of my women students who love it too. When I first got it, it didn't eject right (known malfunction) and Springfield fixed the ejector.
Lately, it's not locking back when the mag is empty........ it does it with my regular mags as well as the after market mags. Anyone have any experience with this?

One question, is the slide stop all the way inserted and are you riding the slide stop with your thumb, I used to be guilty of the last one myself.

Only time I had this happen was on a Makarov with old surplus magazines with weak magazine springs and dirty inside magazine bodies. Tore them apart leaned the inside replaced the mag spring and it worked great.

But I would look at the slide stop first. Both for user error and proper function.
