Empty Magazine Wont Drop Out of XD40

All 6 of my 10-round factory mags no longer drop completely out from the mag well. They used to drop out just fine but now they have to be physically pulled out.

When empty and I hit the mag release the mag drops about 1/2 inch and stops. That's the same location when loading a full mag, it meets resistance at that location and has to be pushed with much force up to load.

There's no noticeable bulges or dimples in the mags. No bent lips. There are some scuff marks on the left side of the mags, about half way up. They feel very smooth to the touch and the micrometer shows no bulge or dent at that area, or anywhere else.

Does anyone else having issues with empty mags not dropping free? I've measured the dimensions of these mags and they seem to be the same dimensions as my 10-round 9mm mags (I also have a 9mm XD). Maybe if SA would send me exact dimensions for the mags I can confirm they still meet specs? This is EXTREMELY frustrating!

Doesn't sound like mags if all of them are doing same thing.
Have you checked for lint and debris and cleaned out inside magwell too?
 
Thanks for the responses BobM and KillerFord1977. I should have said in my OP, the mag well is perfectly clean. In the past I've even tried a light coat of silicone spray on the mags and wiped inside the mag well. Dirty mag well isn't the issue.

Any time. Did you check if magazine catch is fully releasing or functioning properly? Maybe dragging?

I've removed the slide and looking down from the top I can watch the mag enter the mag well. While holding the mag release button in so the mag catch is out of the way, the mag still gets hung up. Frustrating.

Am thinking what Hans said could be likely correct too. Can be other debris lodged up there as well.
W/O seeing is not always so easy to diagnose.
Use flashlight looking up magwell when gun is safely unloaded may help you see issue or something out of place?

Coating? = A covering like Ceracoat usually used for texturing grip surfaces.
Stock guns aren't usually ceracoated. Why may that be an issue? Coating may have coated something other than grip and clogged up magwell or mag release.

Yes, can be frustrating. With slide and mag removed try using compressed canned air to blow out possible debris in magwell area from top then bottom? *May want to wear safety glasses if something in there is dislodged. Am thinking magwell area is either dirty, something may be dislodged in there or worn, like springs or mag release itself, from normal use. as a 2nd thought: There may be a video on Youtube? Haven't checked, but may be a more clear answer there?

Just looked at Youtube, there are a couple of videos on XDS.
They may be similar to your situation? - But have not watched complete videos.
If those videos don't help you figure out your solution, there are some other related videos as well.
One video partially watched showed a concern where trigger issues were involved too.

So I’ve been following this thread and one thing comes to mind, what type of cleaning products are you using on the polymer parts of your gun? Some products are not good for polymer. Not sure myself about using silicone as you mentioned in one post, I would be using only a good gun oil and then wipe everything down so there is a film of oil but not to “wet” You also mentioned a full mag is hard to insert into the mag well, remove the slide and have someone hold a light as you insert the mag, can you see where it is catching or dragging on. There should also be wear marks on the polymer.
Just some thoughts.
You also didn’t mention if this was purchased new or used, if new then when Springfield gets there system up and running a call to a customer service representative may help or take it to a qualified gunsmith.
Ok another thought, was the frame of the gun “mag well” area subject to any intense high heat? That could have caused some deformation.

Which solvent used to clean is a very good point! Polymers, plastics in general, are wide ranged.

Which solvent used to actually clean guns with could very well be a biggie. I'd look 1st for signs of degradation like softening, chalking or blistering plastic. Would think designers would and likely do create a polymer that's impervious, resistant to typical gun cleaning solutions? Have seen and used some solvents that will disintegrate most plastics and many metals. Usually not sold in concentrated form to general public though.
