It will happen.
Do ya’ll practice them?
I do maybe a couple times a year just to be a little muscle memory. I load cheap ammo and do the drills. If I drop the ammo in the dirt, it doesn't bother me as much 😁
Hell, sometimes it fails on its own

We taught similar drills when I taught firearms for the police academy. However we taught slightly different on the double feed. After tap, rack did not work we told recruits to tip the butt down and look at the ejection port. It if was a double feed, lock the slide to the rear, remove and retain the magazine, scrub the gun three or four times (Rack the slide), reinsert the magazine. Tap, rack and reassess the situation. You can retain the magazine in your weak hand and still rack the slide to scrub the gun. Definitely something you need to practice before you need the skill. Keep the magazine as you may not always have a spare.
