Ok, we can see how this goes if passed, afraid it’s just the beginning on so-called assault weapons, you know even if your grandfathered in, sooner or later you will have to do the same as a new purchase.

Congress.gov shows Chris Jacobs as a Republican from NY 27th district.
The gunsamerica . com link says Democrat
No Text for the bill is available yet at congress.gov.

The title of the bill is concerning with the "other purposes" part.

To amend title 18, United States Code, to require a license to acquire or receive an assault weapon, and for other purposes.

The assault on our constitutionally protected rights continues. When will these people understand that you need to prosecute the criminal to prevent crime? I fear never.

Then again, it's not about guns. It's about control. In the eyes of the lunatic left, anyone who owns a firearm is predisposed to criminal behavior. That, and they absolutely fear a populace who has the ability to resist their totalitarian dreams.

Yea, thought something wasn’t correct when one link said Democrat and the other said Republican…....if he was running for re-election he wouldn’t have introduced it, I remember many years ago here in Ohio, Doug Applegate a republican, wasn’t running for re-election used to be pro 2nd amendment, then turned his back on us and supported a gun control bill which got passed, think it might have been the original Assault Weapons ban, but I am not sure.

Seems to me that the gubmint is already backlogged with select groups of law breakers from school council members, social media orators and hallway trespassers. If it’s the existing laws that brought America to current state of uncontrollable violence and mayhem, of what good will new laws have? Not only will the gubmint need more courtrooms but more jail houses for the outlaws…something these people already claim is disproportionate. Their ongoing demand is non-violent or property involved crimes are free from bail bond and incarceration.

Talk about an inept and clueless Congress.

In a matter of fact, IL as well as many other states have these sort of registration-certification hurdles, agreeing that it’s some elected flunky looking for attention with more bureaucratic redundancy.
“Per the legislation, one would need to take a mandatory safety course, pass an FBI background check, submit fingerprints and provide proof of identity as part of the licensing process.”

But IL takes the CCL one step further with its firearms owners identification. I can assure the other 49 statehoods that nobody within the crime-ridden streets of the City of Chicago, County of Cook is ever actually convicted of the ridiculous charge of No FOID, and it’s the first charge that’s dropped during the pretrial or vacated upon the plea offer. Our local courts are filled everyday with gun charges. Every defendant goes home without a strict penalty or paying a penny towards court costs on top of the original Get Otta‘ Jail Free promissory note courtesy of the CC States Atty.

Of course this sort of law requirements would never be introduced for the purpose of registering to Vote or for someone getting arrested for removing EPA mandated emissions control devices from parked cars in the middle of the night with a sawzall. Oh wait….any defrocked Congressman from IL not running next year want to introduce a law requiring registration cards and background checks for anyone purchasing a 18v reciprocating saw?

Hey Jacobs, Oscar Mayer called. They want their baloney back.

A) one undergoes a background check to already buy a firearm or MSR anyway, so this proposal is redundant.
B) you are a law abiding citizen to be able to obtain a firearm / MSR, so this will not prevent any mis use at all
But the magic part of this is the license! Every 5 years you will need to prove to the government that you deserve permission to exercise your right to own firearms.

Anyone want to bet that this won't become a constantly moving standard?
