I understand the concept and why for some it may be needed but I feel it would be a disadvantage in a time sensitive possible life or death situation. Can you imagine fumbling for that in the middle of a gun fight? No thank you.

That's where the concept of a Tactical Reload comes into play. Long as you don't have a fail-to-eject...just count your rounds and drop the mag before you fire your last round
